Mental Health Awareness

We are attentive to both the physical and mental well being of our partners on the ground. In many areas mental illness is not even recognized and has many stigmas and taboos attached. We work collaboratively with our partners to raise awareness and assist with removing stigmas which are attached to mental illness. We focus on stress management, depression and suicide.

Many of our communities live with a lot of stress, and anxiety due to their socio-economic situations, domestic problems, societal pressures and or undiagnosed mental health disorders. We team up with local social workers, counselors and mental health workers to raise awareness about suicide and depression, provide tools and resources.

Sustainability: We have a peer mentorship program whereby adolescents, create programs to support their peers to overcome, stress in their everyday life  — yoga, meditation, arts, cultural programs, dance, excursions, talks by mental health professionals, sport camps. We believe all these can help support our young children’s mental health.
